Privacy policy

Virdek Labs operates from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This policy explains what we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this site we store what you typed. Depending on the form, that is your name, email address, company or team, where you are based, a link to your LinkedIn profile, whether you are enquiring for yourself or for a team, and whatever you write in the message field. Email address is the only field we always require.

We also record which of our programmes the enquiry was about, and whether we have sent you payment details or received a payment, so we can tell where you are in the process without asking you twice.

Information collected automatically

• Where you came from. If you arrive through a link we tagged, such as an advert or a partner post, your browser stores that tag for the length of the visit and sends it with your form submission. It tells us which advert produced an enquiry. It stays on your device, is deleted when you close the tab, and is not shared.
• Page traffic and performance. We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages are visited and how quickly they load. With each page view Vercel records the page address, the site that referred you, your device type, browser and operating system, and your approximate location, which can be as precise as the city. It sets no cookie. Visitors are counted using a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so a browsing session cannot be reconstructed and we only ever see totals rather than individuals. Because it cannot single anyone out, it runs whether or not you accept cookies.
• Advertising measurement is currently switched off. We have the ability to load the Meta Pixel, which would set a cookie and tell Meta an advert led to an enquiry, and it is not running. No advertising cookie is set for anyone, and nothing on this site is shared with Meta. If that changes we will ask before it does, and this page will say so.
• Your own choices. If you dismiss a site announcement we remember that in your browser so it does not reappear. This never leaves your device.

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to run the programme you applied for, to keep track of enrolment and payment, and to understand which of our channels actually bring people in. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Who else handles it

We keep the list short deliberately. Each of these is a service we use to run the site, not a party we share data with for their own purposes:

• Vercel, which hosts the site.
• Turso, which stores the database records.
• Resend, which delivers the notification email that tells us you got in touch.
• Meta, only if you accepted cookies, and only for advertising measurement.

These providers operate internationally, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States, where it can be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and applications for as long as we are in contact with you about them and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that we can pick up a conversation you started earlier. If you ask us to delete your information we will do so, except where we are required to keep a record of a transaction.

Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you can additionally ask us to delete it, to provide a copy in a portable form, or to stop processing it, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is aimed at adults and at people old enough to be entering the workforce. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will remove it.
