About Virdek Labs

Virdek Labs is a software engineering lab in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We train engineers inside real product teams, teach individuals and businesses to use AI well, and build AI products that ship.

Why it exists

Most people learn to code by watching tutorials and building toy projects alone. Then they meet a real job and discover the hard part was never the syntax. It was reading an ambiguous requirement, estimating the work, surviving code review, and shipping something other people depend on.

The same gap shows up in AI training. Most of it is a slideshow about what AI can do. People nod, go back to their desks, and nothing changes. We teach both the same way instead: hands on, inside real work, with someone experienced looking over your shoulder.

What we do

  • Train AI-native engineers. An internship-style programme where people join a working product team, take real tickets, go through real code review, and leave with merged pull requests they can point to.
  • Teach AI, practically. Training for individuals, teams and businesses, run on the trainee’s own work rather than canned examples, so it is in use the same week.
  • Build AI products. Scoped engagements with an embedded team, from first scope to running in production, handed over as a codebase the client’s own team can own.

The three feed each other. Client builds give trainees real codebases with real stakes to learn on, and teaching people to adopt these tools keeps us honest about how they actually get adopted.

Who runs it

Michael Adegboyega, Founder. Michael Adegboyega founded Virdek Labs in Halifax to close the gap between how people are taught to build software and how software is actually built, and leads the programmes and client engagements.
